What Is Heaven, Earth and Me? A Gentle Guide to Saju and Eastern Philosophy
Have you ever had one of those moments where life just feels... confusing?
Not in a dramatic way. Just that quiet feeling of wondering — why does this keep happening to me? Why does everything feel so heavy right now?
If you have, you're not alone. And honestly, that feeling is what brought me to Eastern philosophy in the first place.
This blog is called Heaven, Earth and Me — and today I want to share what that name actually means. Because it's not just a poetic title. It's a whole way of seeing life.
The Three Layers of Life
In Eastern thought, the world has often been understood through three great layers:
Heaven. Earth. And the human being standing between them.
Simple, right? But stay with me, because there's something quietly profound here.
These three aren't just abstract ideas. They're a framework for understanding why life feels the way it does — why some seasons are full and flowing, and others feel stuck no matter how hard you try.
Heaven: The Tide You Can't Stop
When we talk about Heaven here, we're not talking about clouds and angels. Heaven represents the greater flow — the one that moves whether we like it or not.
Time. Seasons. The rhythm of an era. The invisible current of the moment you were born into.
Think about it this way: even the most determined farmer can't make spring arrive early. Seeds know when to wake. Fruit knows when to ripen. And there's a kind of wisdom in that — a reminder that not everything is ours to force.
This is why the Four Pillars of Destiny pays such close attention to the year, month, day, and even hour of birth. It's not about memorizing a date. It's about understanding what kind of time you were born into, and what that flow means for your life.
We can't choose Heaven. But when we start to understand it, we can begin to see our own seasons more clearly — and stop fighting tides we were never meant to fight.
Earth: The Ground You're Standing On
Earth is simpler to grasp, but just as important.
Earth is your reality. Your family, your body, your relationships, your work, the country you grew up in. The practical, tangible foundation of your daily life.
Here's a thought I come back to often: the same seed grows differently depending on where it's planted.
A seed in warm, rich soil. A seed in dry, rocky ground. Same seed — completely different lives.
We're not so different.
Someone can have an incredible, generous nature and still struggle deeply if the environment around them doesn't support it. And someone else can start with very little, and slowly — patiently — build something beautiful by choosing their ground wisely.
Earth reminds us that life isn't just about ideals and intentions. We live in bodies. We need relationships that actually nourish us. We work, rest, eat, and build a place to call home. All of that matters.
So when you're trying to understand your own path, don't just look up at the sky. Also ask yourself: what kind of ground am I standing on right now?
You: The One Who Lives Between Them
Here's where it gets really interesting.
You are not Heaven. You are not Earth. But you're shaped by both — and that's not a limitation. That's actually where all your agency lives.
Heaven gives you time. Earth gives you conditions. And you get to choose what you do between them.
Yes, you didn't pick the era you were born into. You didn't choose your parents, or your birth season, or the circumstances you started with. In that sense, a lot was decided before you even arrived.
But that's not the whole story.
Because you can learn. You can change direction. You can wait, and prepare, and begin again. You can read the weather and decide whether to bring an umbrella.
If Heaven is the weather, and Earth is the terrain — then you are the traveler walking through both.
On a rainy day, you can prepare. On a windy day, you can adjust your posture. When spring comes, you can plant. When winter comes, you can go inward, and save your strength for what's ahead.
That's not passivity. That's wisdom.
Destiny Isn't What You Think It Is
A lot of people hear the word "destiny" and think: fixed. decided. out of my hands.
"I was born this way." "This is just my fate." "My path was already written."
I understand that feeling — especially when life has been hard for a long time.
But from this perspective, destiny isn't a verdict. It's a pattern.
It's created by three things working together: the flow of Heaven, the conditions of Earth, and the choices of the human being. Change any one of those, and the pattern shifts.
Even in good timing, nothing blooms without prepared ground. Even in rich soil, nothing grows without action. And even in difficult seasons, a person who understands the flow — who tends to themselves quietly, steadily — can slowly open a path.
This is why I find Four Pillars of Destiny so meaningful. It's not a prediction machine. It's a study that asks deeper questions:
Under what Heaven was I born? On what Earth am I living? And how should I walk between them?
Why This Matters: Understanding Reduces Fear
I'll be honest with you — the reason I keep coming back to this kind of thinking is that it genuinely helps with fear.
Human beings are most afraid when they don't understand. When the same painful pattern keeps repeating and we don't know why. When our heart feels uneasy and we can't explain it. When our life seems to move at a completely different speed from everyone around us.
That not-knowing is exhausting.
But when you begin to understand the flow — even a little — something in you settles.
Maybe this isn't a time to push forward. Maybe this is a time to prepare.
Maybe this isn't the moment to give up. Maybe this is the season to put down roots.
Maybe this slowness isn't failure. Maybe it's my life quietly building strength for what comes next.
That shift in perspective — that's what Heaven, Earth, and Me is really about.
Destiny Is a Map, Not a Prison
I want to leave you with this.
A map doesn't walk the road for you. But it shows you where you are, which direction you might take, where the mountains rise, and where the rivers run.
Four Pillars of Destiny is the same. It's not here to trap you inside a predetermined life. It's here to help you understand yourself more clearly — so you can move through your seasons with a little more grace, and a little less fear.
Understanding destiny won't make life suddenly easy.
But sometimes, a small moment of understanding — oh, this is why — becomes exactly the strength you need to keep walking.
And that's why I'm here, writing this blog.
To learn alongside you. To explore what it means to read the flow of Heaven, stand honestly on the Earth, and come to know ourselves a little better — one season at a time.
Welcome to Heaven, Earth and Me. I'm really glad you're here.
Summary
Heaven, Earth, and Me is a way of understanding human life through three layers. Heaven means time, cycles, and the greater flow we didn't choose. Earth means reality — our environment, our body, the practical conditions of life. And Me means the human being standing between them, feeling and choosing and continuing to live.
Destiny isn't a fixed sentence. It's the living pattern created by all three together.
This blog begins from that view: to know Heaven, to observe Earth, and to understand ourselves — one step at a time.
